Lithiumfluorid

Lithium is an important element for energy storage.

Due to the increasing use of rechargeable lithium-ion batteries, especially in the automotive industry, a considerable demand is expected in the next few years, which in turn represents an excellent platform for the growth of Deutsche Lithium GmbH. The global lithium-ion battery market is expected to grow to $ 70 trillion by 2020.

In lithium-ion batteries, lithium is used as a component of the cathode and as conductive salt in the electrolyte of the battery. The most suitable conductive salt is LiPF6, which requires lithium fluoride for its production.

As part of the Zinnwald-Lithium project, Deutsche Lithium has developed a process for the production of high-purity and cost-effective lithium fluoride, which will be made available to the market from 2022 onwards.
